The action puzzler Challenge of the Warlords blends gameplay of classic puzzle games with interesting RPG missions and goals. There are several difficult battles throughout the game that can challenge the causal gamer. Doing a little work in character development early in the game can have huge benefits later.
General Game Tip
With the excitement of a new game, it is easy to become involved in the story and do everything possible to help it advance. Part of the enjoyment of RPG games is that the player’s actions directly affect the game. While this is fun, the impulse to play through as fast as possible should be avoided.
Most of the enemies at the start of the game are low level. This means they have weak attacks and little health points. This is appropriate for the player’s level at the beginning of the game but should be used to its full advantage. Complete several fights early in the game without advancing the story.
Monsters roam the road and offer little resistance. This is the perfect time to master early gameplay while increasing the character’s level. By taking advantage of these early fights the player will quickly become overpowered for these fights. They will continue to benefit the player so do not avoid these random battles but these easy fights will not longer serve as obstacles to future goals.
Spells and Skills Tips
Spells and skills can give the player a great advantage over the competition. Just because a spell costs more it does not mean it is the best spell to have at that point in the game. Focus on the lower level skills and spell. Many skills can be purchased at the Temple cheaply.
There is no prize for gaining a lot of spells or skills. Read through the list of available skills and match personal play style with the appropriate abilities. Buying a small number of skills and spells throughout the game gives two advantages.
- The player has the chance to master old spells before purchasing new ones. Knowing when and how to use a spell is always helpful.
- The player can save points for higher level spells later in the game.
Cunning is a great skill to increase. Going first in a game can set the tone of the match. If the player is often second to move, focus on building this skill. If the character can not heal learning the regeneration skill from the troll is also helpful because it can keep the player in the battle longer against difficult enemies.
Mount Tips
Mounts are the rides used throughout the game. In addition to increasing movement speed, mounts add bonuses for the player during battles. The rat is a good mount because it increases the player’s cunning (the importance is listed in spell and skills tips above).
With these simple tips the player can quickly have the advantage over the early enemies. Don’t avoid the simple fights later on since these can still give experience to the player. If these suggestions are followed, the player will see the bosses falling before their might with a little skill and luck.
