Grabbed by the Ghoulies

An Xbox Video Game

A fun game filled with mummies, vampires, zombies and other hauntings that you can bang, thwack, and smash.

It’s not every day one can sit down in front of the TV and shoot garlic cloves at vampire chickens or smash a chair over the head of a zombie pirate. In Grabbed by the Ghoulies however, all weird and wacky desires come true. Rated E for everyone, Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a one player Xbox game that will leave the player amused and giddy as he gets to throw hamburgers and laundry detergent at possessed doors and a crazy zapping wizard.

Storyline

Meet Cooper. He’s your average teenage boy taking a late night walk through the woods with his girlfriend, Amber. His map reading skills leave a lot to be desired and soon they are lost. They come across the evil Ghoulhaven Hall. Amber wants to go inside the huge mansion to seek shelter from the storm. Cooper, on the other hand, wants to get as far away from the place as possible. He glances back down at his map and when he looks up again, Amber is gone. Creatures from Ghoulhaven Hall have kidnapped Amber and taken her inside the ominous mansion. Cooper has to go inside and rescue her.

Monsters and Weapons

While Cooper is trying to locate his girlfriend, he is forced to battle monsters with his fists and feet or with whatever “weapon” is lying around. There are little imps to kick about, such as the Ninja imps, and there are fire imps that he has to kill off with a fire extinguisher. There are zombie pirates who have a knack for hiding inside chests and freezers. Snake headed Medusas meander some of the rooms. Then there are the vampires. Vampire chickens zoom at Cooper and land on his head. The only way to battle them is to shoot garlic cloves at them. Scary vampire ladies hop around upright in their coffins and chase after Cooper in the hopes of trapping him inside the coffin. There are also mummies that are afraid of fire, skeletons that break apart, and green zombies that you can beat over the head with their own limbs.

Like the monsters Cooper encounters in Ghoulhaven Hall, the weapons are not what one would typically use to battle off the fiends of darkness. For example, tossing detergent boxes and clothes hampers at a crazy wizard will help Cooper win the laundry room battle. Cooper can also pick up and use potted plants, chairs, boxes, barrels, shovels, a gun filled with soda cans, toilet paper, hamburgers, and other oddities to battle against the things that go bump in the night.

Entertaining

Grabbed by the Ghoulies is a great game for a boring day. The new twists to favorite popular monsters are intriguing and sometimes outright silly. The plot is simple: save Amber and then, after Cooper saves his girlfriend, rescue the other kids trapped in Ghoulhaven Hall. There’s never a dull moment. Ghosts appear out of nowhere, hands reach up out of the ground and grab Cooper, and television sets come alive. Grabbed by the Ghoulies is all action and chuckles.
