Unlock new characters and stages by achieving high scores in Mercenaries Mode. Hints, Tips, Strategies, and more for Resident Evil 5, Sheva Alomar BSAA Outfit.

Survival horror / action game Resident Evil 5's Mercenaries Mode pits 1-2 players inside a small level, rewarding a high score for surviving long lengths of time and defeating numerous enemies at a time for big combo bonuses.

Sheva (BSAA) is one of two characters already available after Mercenaries Mode is unlocked. Mercenaries is unlocked by playing through the single-player / co-op campaign mode.

Read this RE5 game guide on Sheva (BSAA) for hints, tips, strategies, and more on how to achieve a higher score and unlock characters and stages using Sheva, BSAA Outfit.

Mercs Sheva (BSAA) Equipment

The following is a list of all the weapons, equipment, and supplies Sheva Alomar, BSAA Outfit, carries at the start of the match.

  • M92F Handgun - 40 clip, 250 power, 1.3 sec reload, 50% critical hit
  • VZ61 Machine Gun - 260 clip, 100 power, 2.83 sec reload, 37.5% critical hit
  • Dragunov SVD Rifle (Semi-Auto) - 13 clip, 1300 power, 2.4 sec reload
  • 50 Handgun bullets ammo box
  • 150 Machine Gun bullets ammo box
  • 1 can of First Aid Spray

BSAA Sheva receives three weapons (handgun, machine gun, and a rifle), some ammunition, and a first aid spray.

BSAA Sheva Equipment Guide - Handgun, Machine Gun, Rifle

Sheva BSAA receives a Handgun, Machine Gun, and Rifle, which covers a good spread of range.

Sheva's biggest equipment advantage comes from her Rifle. One bullet will take down common Majini, and a whole clip or two should be enough to take down most Boss Majini, all doing so from a safe distance. And since it's semi-automatic, shots can be fired fast and furiously. The 2.4 sec reload time is just long enough to cause some trouble, though.

The VZ61 Machine Gun that Sheva receives may start with a ridiculous amount of ammunition, but it's the weakest weapon in Mercenaries Mode. It takes two and a half machine gun bullets just to match one handgun round, and it takes 13 bullets to match one shot from the Dragunov, not good.

Sheva's handgun, the M92F, has a huge clip size, a quick reload, and a 50% chance of scoring a critical hit. The size of the clip allows Sheva to shoot for a long time before having to reload, and the reload time is only 1.3 seconds anyway. The M92F is a good, reliable weapon, and is particularly good at specific aiming (leg shots, head shots, etc.).

Mercenaries High Score Hints and Tips for Sheva BSAA Outfit

Sheva BSAA does not need both a handgun and a machine gun, and it is recommended to pitch one of the weapons and ammo at the start of the match. This will focus the player's choice to two weapons, meaning less time wasted switching weapons, and it will free up some inventory space for ammo drops, health items, and other items such as grenades found throughout the levels.

After pitching one of the weapons, the other should be used as the main weapon for taking out common Majini. Using the rifle too frequently against common enemies will waste ammo, which will become a real problem when the boss enemy shows up.

The rifle should only be used against common Majini in two situations. If the combo meter is about to run up and if there are no common Majini nearby, the rifle can take out a couple enemies from afar to keep the combo going. And, if a boss Majini is charging forward, shooting the nearby common Majini with the rifle can make it easier to focus on the boss character and take him out.

When there's only one or two Majini nearby, Sheva can set up a one-hit-kill melee strike to gain a +5 second time bonus. Sheva must shoot a Majini in the knee, causing the Majini to drop down to one knee, and then walk behind the Majini and press the action button. Sheva will slit the Majini's throat for an instant, parasite-free kill and a +5 second time bonus.

Sheva (BSAA) in Co-op play

Sheva BSAA can work well with two strategies. Choosing two characters that focus on long-range with rifles will gaurentee numerous rifle ammo drops. On the other hand, choosing a good short-range character to pair with Sheva can help keep enemies at a distance while Sheva safely snipes.

Either way, Sheva should focus on as many weapons as her partner has in common as possible. When pairing with Jill Valentine (Battle Suit), Sheva BSAA should pitch her handgun in favor of sharing ammunition. If BSAA Sheva pairs up with Chris BSAA, Chris Safari, Midnight Wesker, or one of the other characters with a pistol, Sheva should pitch her machine gun instead.

Two players, both with a rifle, can work well by switching off between long-range and short-range. One should try shooting long range, while the other protects, and then switch when running low on ammo. This strategy works particularly well after picking up a combo bonus to receive big point bonuses.

This same strategy can be applied when facing a boss character. One player would shoot rifle rounds into the boss Majini, while the other focuses on taking out surrounding common Majini to keep the combo going.

RE5 Mercenaries Sheva (BSAA) Conclusion

Between the two starting characters, Sheva BSAA has more potential than Chris BSAA. While Chris is great at taking out numerous common Majini with his Shotgun, the fun stops when a boss Majini arrives. Sheva BSAA, with her rifle equipped, is a much more formidable character to take out boss Majini.
