Resident Evil Infects The IPhone/IPod TouchLeon S. Kennedy Fights The Undead Again In DegenerationHe's back and this time he's in the palm of your hand. Leon S. Kennedy, the greatest resident evil character saves the day once again.
Dead heads and zombie fans alike are always on the lookout for the latest and greatest in movies and video games. The most recent Resident Evil game, which is showcased on the IPhone and IPod Touch, impresses on many levels making fans of the undead drool with feverish hunger. Resident Evil Degeneration StoryThe handheld game is based on Resident Evil: Degeneration, a computer generated film of the same name. In the storyline of the game an inbound airplane crashes into an airport thanks to an onboard outbreak of the ever virulent T-Virus. The airport is badly damaged in the crash making movements through the building difficult. Leon Kennedy is sent in to perform a search and rescue of any survivors of the accident and encounters an ever growing hoard of the undead as he struggles to escape. Unfortunately for Leon zombies aren’t the only things waiting to attack. Luckily for Leon his audible assistant Hunnigan is on his ear piece giving insight, directions and instructions with Claire Redfield lending a calming influence to the rest of the survivors. Even with Leon’s skill, and help from his team will the survivors find a way to escape? Handheld GameplayThe gameplay of this application is surprisingly sharp. It is very reminiscent of Resident Evil Four, another Leon S. Kennedy RE title. Gamers can kick open doors, target headshots on the undead and roundhouse the heads of dazed zombies. The control interface is well laid out. As always with the IPod Touch and IPhone each icon is touch and heat sensitive. A standard joystick, action and run buttons and an inventory icon supplement s most of the controls found on a console controller. The programmers did a fantastic job of finding what works on such a small screen while maintaining some semblance of the action found in Resident Evil four and five. Extra Features And Mercenary ModeThe game has 12 chapters all told which take approximately two and a half hours to complete on the professional difficulty setting, which is hardest of three available modes. Each play through allows for item and weapon carry over to the next time after the game is defeated. It is worth every penny as a convenient time waster or portable RE title Like almost every previous Resident Evil title Degeneration provides gamers that survive the chance to play a more intense version of zombie gameplay. Two play boards are set up with the now familiar mercenary style. The object of the extra game is to survive as long as possible while accruing as many points from undead kills as time allows. Like its predecessors, this game impresses. Consider it a must have pocket purchase.
